AYUSH Premium Mark certification and product-list checks
AYUSH Premium Mark is voluntary certification aligned with WHO GMP guidelines, not Standard Mark or a foreign market approval. Check the product scope.
AYUSH Premium Mark is a level of voluntary product certification managed by the Quality Council of India (QCI). QCI describes Premium Mark as aligned with WHO GMP guidelines and stricter international requirements, and Standard Mark as based on domestic regulatory compliance. The scheme page titles it the Voluntary Certification Scheme for AYUSH Products (AYUSH Mark). QCI's scheme overview states both levels. An AYUSH Premium certificate is not the manufacturing licence.
What does the AYUSH Premium Mark certify?
The Ministry of AYUSH developed the voluntary scheme with QCI as its manager. Certification is granted by certification bodies accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), according to QCI. The Ministry and QCI are not the automatic issuers.
The Ministry's 22 July 2022 reply says the scheme has operated through QCI since 2009. It describes Standard Mark through Schedule T GMP for Ayurvedic, Siddha and Unani medicines, and Premium Mark through WHO GMP guidelines covering herbal medicines. Ayurvedic medicine certification under Schedule T is the domestic basis named for Standard Mark. On its own, that is not an AYUSH Premium certificate.
| Mark | Basis described by QCI |
|---|---|
| AYUSH Standard Mark | Domestic regulatory compliance |
| AYUSH Premium Mark | WHO GMP guidelines and stricter international requirements |
That comparison is QCI's wording. Keep certification claims within that scope. Premium Mark is not WHO approval of a medicine, proof of clinical efficacy, a manufacturing licence or permission to sell abroad. For export, including a US sale, check the destination market separately. Premium certification is not market authorisation.
How products qualify for certification
Start with domestic compliance. The Ministry's 2022 reply says the scheme is open to manufacturers complying with domestic regulations. It also says products are certified after State Licensing Authority approval. Voluntary AYUSH products certification sits on top of that approval.
Next, use the scheme documents for the product scope you want to submit. The official QCI PADD index lists Section III Certification Criteria and Annexure 3A, WHO GMP Guidelines for Premium Mark. It also lists separate contaminant annexures for Premium and Standard certification. The titles locate the criteria. They do not replace reading the files.
The same index provides the certification process, internal quality assurance, certification maintenance and mark-use documents. Read the relevant documents before agreeing an application scope with a certification body. The scheme name alone does not show that every AYUSH category qualifies.
QCI's index links an application-registration portal. Start with the index, then confirm the submission requirements with the certification body. Ask for the applicable document list, fees and assessment arrangements before setting a launch date. Also ask for the current certification and mark-use rules for the products you intend to submit.
Where to check AYUSH Premium certified companies and products
For an AYUSH Premium certified company list, or an AYUSH Premium Mark products list, start at the official PADD scheme index. It links client lists under IRCLASS and TQ Cert. Use those lists rather than an unsourced roundup of AYUSH-certified brands.
But a dated client list can't settle a current purchase. The official file locations include an IRCLASS list uploaded in July 2025 and a TQ list uploaded in July 2025. An upload date does not establish a product certificate's validity today.
Don't treat the filename as certificate status.
Ask the supplier for the certificate and any product-scope annexure. Then confirm the following with the issuing body:
- Does the scope include the exact product being purchased?
- Does it cover the relevant manufacturing site?
- Is the mark level Premium rather than Standard?
- What validity period applies, and what is the current certification status?
Treat this as a buyer's verification checklist, not a prescribed certificate format. Do not assume an AYUSH-certified label covers the company's entire portfolio or every manufacturing site; confirm which products and sites the certificate and annexure actually cover. A company match is only the start of the check.
Check the issuer separately. NABCB lists TQ Cert Services Private Limited and ISSPL Limited, formerly IRCLASS Systems and Solutions Limited and IRCLASS Systems and Solutions Private Limited. Those former names are why QCI's index still says IRCLASS. A certification body's accreditation record is not proof that a particular supplier's product holds Premium certification.
Logo use, licensing and other AYUSH certificates
If you plan to use the AYUSH Premium logo, consult the mark-use rules on the PADD index. Confirm the permitted use for your certified scope before preparing packaging or promotional copy. Another company's label is not your permission to print the logo.
Keep these mechanisms separate when someone asks for an Ayurvedic certificate:
- Domestic regulatory approval remains the foundation described in the Ministry's 2022 reply.
- WHO-CoPP is a separately described route in the Ministry's 18 March 2026 reply.
- NABH concerns healthcare organisations, so NABH AYUSH entry-level certification is not evidence of Premium product certification.
The 2026 Ministry reply also mentions an Ayush Quality Mark launched in December 2025, and third-party evaluation of product quality against domestic and international standards. The separate Quality Mark name is not evidence that it replaced Premium Mark or that the requirements match.
