EPR annual return filing dates and portal guide for India

EPR annual return dates differ by waste stream in India. Check FY 2025-26 portal notices, plastic filing availability and practical online filing steps.

There is no single EPR annual return due date for all CPCB waste streams in India. For FY 2025-26, the battery portal announces a filing extension to 30 November 2026, while plastic filing remains unavailable.

Start with your waste stream, registered role and reporting financial year. A filing date for one portal does not answer the same question for another. The dates below reflect official portal notices checked on 3 November 2026, not a calendar of recurring statutory deadlines.

EPR annual return due dates for FY 2025-26

The official portals display the following position. Check each extension order for the roles and conditions it covers before relying on a date.

These are financial-year-specific announcements. Do not carry a FY 2025-26 extension into another reporting year or treat it as the deadline for every registered role.

For plastic, the Common EPR Portal notice addresses Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs) and Plastic Waste Processors (PWPs). It says the revised filing schedule and required extension of the lapse period will be announced upon the AR module's launch. It gives no date you can enter as the new last date.

How to file an EPR annual return online

Use the current portal and the instructions for your registered role. Do not use one portal's button sequence for another.

Select the right portal and role

Before entering figures, confirm which entity and registration you are working under. Match the return to its reporting financial year, rather than the year in which you happen to file it.

For plastic packaging, start at the Common EPR Portal. For batteries, the battery portal says FAQs and user manuals are now on the Common EPR SSO Portal. Follow those current links rather than an old saved manual.

The e-waste portal lists separate annual-return instruction sheets for producers and recyclers. Choose the sheet for your role. The tyre portal carries annual/quarterly-return notices and role-specific instructions. For used oil, the official page lists annual-return guidance for registered producers.

Prepare figures against the current instructions

As a working check, reconcile the reporting year's quantity records, relevant invoices and certificate records against the fields requested. Resolve differences before transferring totals into the return. Keep a note of how you arrived at each figure so another colleague can check it.

This is preparation advice, not a universal attachment list. Use the current instructions to decide which documents and fields apply to your role. Do not assume that a document requested by one waste-stream portal is required by another.

Complete the available workflow and retain evidence

Follow the current on-screen validations and official role-specific guidance. For plastic FY 2025-26, the public notice says filing is unavailable. Account access alone does not mean you can submit that return.

Where the workflow supplies them, retain the submission acknowledgement and a copy of the return. As an internal control, keep these with the figures used to prepare it. If the account cannot file, check the latest official notices and seek CPCB clarification. Do not assume a missed window will reopen automatically.

Plastic EPR filing moved to the Common Portal

The old plastic portal says it was discontinued from 28 June 2026. It states that all user data was migrated to the Common EPR Portal. The old site remains available for comparing data up to that date against migrated records, not as the current filing destination.

This makes an old filing walkthrough a poor guide to the current process. Start with the Common Portal's notice and help page, rather than following historical screen names.

The current help explains how to link existing plastic roles. It uses matching Authorized Person PAN and Company PAN, with OTP verification through the previously registered mobile number and email. Select OPEN to access a linked role.

Those steps provide account access. They do not describe annual-return submission or change the notice that the FY 2025-26 AR module is unavailable. Prepare your records, check the migrated role and watch for the revised schedule on the Common Portal.

Before you rely on an EPR filing last date

Check the financial year in the notice itself. A search for a plastic EPR return last date in 2025 does not establish the FY 2025-26 position. Also check whether the notice concerns annual returns, quarterly returns or both. The tyre portal carries notices referring to annual and quarterly returns.

For e-waste and tyres, the displayed September dates have passed as of this article's check date. Look for a later official notice and obtain CPCB clarification about your account's position. Do not infer automatic late acceptance, a fixed penalty or an exemption from the banner alone.

RegAffairs AI has a saved answer about EPR annual returns in India. For current plastic filing availability, use the Common Portal's FY 2025-26 notice: the revised schedule is to be announced when the AR module launches.
