Organic certification bodies in India and APEDA list checks
Find organic certification bodies in India through APEDA's NPOP register. Check names, accreditation validity and scope before appointing a certifier.
Organic certification bodies in India
For organic certification bodies in India under NPOP, start with APEDA's official register of accredited certification bodies. Check each body's accreditation validity and authorised activities before appointing it, rather than relying on its name alone.
APEDA implements the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), which covers standards, accreditation of certification bodies and operator certification. Keep those roles separate: a certification body's accreditation and a producer's or processor's certification need different checks. See APEDA's programme overview.
Where to find the official APEDA list
The NPOP certification bodies page displays a list dated 13 October 2026. Use that register for accreditation checks, rather than an agency's appearance in a search result or operator directory.
A dated list needs a second check. APEDA's announcements page lists a National Accreditation Body (NAB) subcommittee decision dated 2 November 2026, after the October register. Read later decisions before relying on a register entry. The notice's title alone does not establish what changed for any particular body.
Names in APEDA's operator directory
The following names appear in APEDA's Certification Body Operator Details directory. They help you match familiar agency searches to displayed names. This table does not establish their current accreditation status.
| Agency search | Name displayed by APEDA |
|---|---|
| Aditi | Aditi Organic Certifications Pvt. Ltd |
| Ecocert India | ECOCERT India Pvt. Ltd. |
| OneCert | OneCert International Private Limited |
| Indocert | INDOCERT |
| Control Union-related search | CU Inspections India Pvt. Ltd. |
| IMO | IMO Control Pvt. Ltd. |
| Rajasthan | Rajasthan State Organic Certification Agency (RSOCA) |
For an Ecocert India, Aditi or INDOCERT enquiry, carry the exact name into your register check. For a Control Union-related search, match CU Inspections India Pvt. Ltd. against the register. Don't assume a trading name proves the identity of an accredited legal entity.
The directory's serial numbers are not accreditation codes. Its "Active Operators" and "Withdrawn/Discontinued Operators" links describe operator status. They do not, by themselves, show that the certification body's accreditation has been withdrawn. These labels appear in the operator directory, which has a different purpose from the accreditation register.
How to check an organic certification agency
Before appointing an agency or accepting a supplier's certification, use this sequence:
- Open the official NPOP register. Match the body's precise legal name and accreditation identifier against the details supplied to you.
- Read the entry's validity and authorised activities. Check any location limits or conditions stated there against your operation. A familiar agency name is not enough to establish that it covers your work.
- Review later NAB decisions. Check whether a subsequent decision affects the entry you intend to rely on.
- Check the operator separately. Use the operator directory to reach the relevant operator information, then match the operator and certificate details supplied to you.
These are separate checks. A listing for the certification body does not, by itself, confirm a particular supplier's certificate. Use the same legal name throughout your appointment and supplier review records.
What TraceNet can check
Use the current TraceNet platform, rather than instructions for an older interface. Its public Transaction Certificate (TC) Verification form is specifically for transaction certificates. It is not an accreditation checker or a universal scope-certificate search.
The form requests buyer type, requester registration number, organisation name, email, mobile number and a CAPTCHA. Have those details ready. Don't treat a transaction-certificate check as a replacement for checking the certification body's accreditation.
Check export requirements separately
If you plan to sell organic products abroad, check the destination regulator's requirements before choosing your certifier. Don't assume NPOP accreditation alone authorises organic sales in the EU or US. Keep that destination-market check separate from your Indian accreditation and supplier checks.
RegAffairs AI's answer on organic certification bodies in India refers to an older APEDA list, so use the current official sources for accreditation decisions.
