Safety data sheet software fills the template. When a customer challenges a regulatory line, you have the answer and citation ready for your review file.
What SDS authoring software does
SDS authoring software applies vendor-maintained rules and phrase libraries to a formulation. It recommends a classification, then produces SDSs and labels for each market and language.
The buying process is sales-led. 3E Generate offers a consultation, Lisam a demo, and Enhesa a scheduled call. RegAffairs AI puts your first regulatory question one click away.
The regulatory lines that decide whether an SDS is right
In the EU, the SDS format is REACH Annex II, as replaced by Regulation (EU) 2020/878. The new format has been mandatory since 1 January 2023. The scheda di sicurezza guide walks the 16 sections.
- Section 2: classification under CLP. Harmonised entries sit in CLP Annex VI, Part 3. ATPs update that table.
- Section 3: composition, including SVHC on the Candidate List.
- Section 8: control parameters. Occupational exposure limits are set country by country.
- Section 14: transport information.
- Section 15: substance-specific rules, including REACH authorisations in Annex XIV and restrictions in Annex XVII.
REACH Article 31(9) requires the supplier to update the SDS without delay in these cases: new hazard information, information that affects risk management measures, an authorisation granted or refused, or a restriction imposed. Recipients supplied in the preceding 12 months must get the new sheet.
New CLP hazard classes under Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/707 add more questions to the review: ED HH, ED ENV, PBT, vPvB, PMT and vPvM. Ask which rules apply to your substance and open the cited source.

Safety data sheet software questions, answered from the source
Paste a CAS number and name the markets. The agent searches the official registers: CLP Annex VI, the C&L inventory, the Candidate List, Annex XIV, Annex XVII, CLH intentions, national OEL lists, the TSCA inventory, UK REACH and Türkiye KKDIK. Inline citations open the stored source document, and the research trail shows how the answer was reached.
The homepage example is a section 2 question: "Is TiO2 still harmonised as Carc. 2 under CLP?" The page shows 6 research steps and 48 seconds. Citations include Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/217 and the General Court judgment in T-279/20 and T-288/20, down to the paragraph. Two other questions:
- What is the harmonised CLP classification of formaldehyde (CAS 50-00-0), and which ATP set it?
- Is bisphenol A (CAS 80-05-7) on the Candidate List, and is it restricted under Annex XVII?
Section 8 and section 15 across jurisdictions
Occupational exposure limits are set country by country. RegAffairs AI covers national OEL sources for:
- Germany (BAuA and IFA GESTIS), France (INRS), Spain (INSST), Italy (INAIL), Poland, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
- The UK (HSE), the US (OSHA), Korea (KOSHA) and Japan (MHLW and NITE).
"What are the OELs for toluene in Germany, France and Spain?" is one question, with the lists cited.
Ask whether DEHP (CAS 117-81-7) is restricted under REACH Annex XVII, UK REACH and US TSCA. You get each jurisdiction's conditions with the source. Brazil, Canada, Australia (AICIS) and Türkiye (KKDIK) are in the chemicals coverage as well. See chemicals coverage and the chemicals page.
SDS software checks for authors, product stewards and Only Representatives
- SDS authors check classification and section 15 before release, then send the citation. See RegAffairs AI for SDS authors.
- Product stewardship teams check an ATP or Candidate List update substance by substance. See REACH compliance software and regulatory intelligence software.
- Only Representatives and distributors repeat that lookup across substances and markets, including KKDIK.
Named comparisons sit on the compare hub.

FAQ
What is the difference between SDS software and RegAffairs AI?
SDS authoring software builds the sheet from your formulation, using the vendor's rules. RegAffairs AI answers the regulatory questions behind each line, and each answer cites the official source.
Can RegAffairs AI check the classification on an existing SDS?
Yes. Ask for the harmonised CLP classification of your CAS number and the ATP behind it, then check the cited source before signing off section 2.
Is there an MSDS software free trial?
MSDS software is the older name for safety data sheet software. Try regulatory lookup with RegAffairs AI today, free, with no credit card or demo call.
